Monday 17th March  – Windsurf ***** River Stour at Wrabness  –  sunny periods.

Foil – 20.41  knot max (year PB), 19.32 knot ave (year PB), 14.66  knot hour (year PB), 17.32 knot mile (year PB), 49.85 km (year PB)., 15.11 knot alpha.

Starboard Freeride 150 and a Evolution Freeride foil with a Tushingham Storm 6.5.

Was not sure about windsurfing today but my heel had calmed down and when Robert messaged saying he was heading for Wrabness again, so I checked the forecast which was excellent, a solid 20 knots from the east and sunny coupled with a good high tide it was too good an opportunity to miss, the the lovely Mag once agin agreed to come, mainly to keep me awake on the return journey:) The wind was still light when we left Felixstowe just after ten so I added my 7.5 but did not need it! We were first to arrive by the Stour and got prime parking spot and went for a quick walk with Mags mobile to take a few weather pics and sent them in to the TV as Robert and Keith arrived as the wind was slowly building. Our foil boards were quickly set-up, with the wind in the east we were in a sheltered spot so judging the windstrength so Robert and I took a chance with 6.5 which proved perfect (maybe Robert was a little over at times) while heavier Kieth went for 8m! We waded out at 12.30 and I while Robert got up and flying I sailed across the river well under but on turning I was up and flying and didn’t look back, hardly coming off the foil for two hours doing long runs across the river getting some nice gybes in too. It was difinately the best session for many months especially as the sun was out for a good part of it and I ended up with 5 year PB’s and got over 20 knots a couple of times, 5 stars all the way. After trying a fast mile run, getting 17.32 knots it was time to call it a day as was getting knackered! After carrying my gear to the little grass area I went and had lunch with Mag to hear about her day! She had had a top walk along the river and back inland seeing loads of flowers and lamps and had a great day! Tomorrow is looking promising for another sail this time at Levington but Mag had a message that the foot clinic had a cancellation for today at 8.30 and was told I can’t drive home so windsurfing might be out of the question!
