It was an absolute cracking day here in Felixstowe, wall to wall sunshine with a good onshore breeze forecast and as we were having Maeva again today I was keen to get out early to make the most of low water and to be able to get back for some family fun! With the wind building I headed down to Squiz Lane arriving at ten where the conditions looked great so the gear was soon ready with my 6.5 rigged again. Launching just after 10.30 the onshore breeze had chopped the sea up as I slowly sailed up the coast thinking I had rigged too small:( but I didn’t fancy using anything bigger with some lumpy waves rolling in. I had got level with the Ferris wheel when I managed to get flying by running down a wave and pumping hard. Once flying it was great and I had no trouble flying the three and a half miles to The Dip, gybing round the red and white bouy. Once again I had to sail slowly for a bit before pumping up again making it all the way back to the wheel as the wind dipped again so I turned and managed to get flying but this time I beat back to The Dip turning further out this time and made it back to Landguard beach before doing it once more,, it was fantastic doing long runs in the warm sunshine easily flying over the lumpy sea, what fun. I think I hit a fish near the pier which slowed me down and with the wind easing I had to slowly sail back and decided to call it a day, pack up and head back home to spend a lovely afternoon with Mag and Maeva:)
After spending a few pics to the TV weather, sadly none used today I made a flask, packed some snacks and we headed over to Falkenham church to enjoy the peace and quiet and watch Maeva stomp about before she fell asleep on Mags lap half way through her biscuit! What a top day, will probably visit my Dad tomorrow and on Sunday we are having a family get together in Surrey where both the grandchildren will be together, can't wait:)
