Now that there have been record claims
and we have got experience with the procedures and rules for claiming GPS
records it has become evident that there are procedural areas in the rules that
can be improved and simplified consistent with our aim to make record rankings
claims as accessible as possible while maintaining the technical
standards.
After discussion and feedback from
members we are drafting some changes to the rules to clarify them and to make it
clear that it is unnecessary to announce record attempts before each and every
attempt takes place. For attempts at specified commonly frequented and well
established speed venues it will not be required. A list of these venues will
be published. For record attempts at new or remote places we propose to
keep a requirement to notify the WGPSSRC before the attempt in enough time so
that proper arrangements for ratification can be agreed and so that other
interested parties may arrange to be present.
