Saturday 26th August - Windsurf **** The Dip at Felixstowe – sunny periods.

Foil – 18.18 knot max, 16.75 knot ave, 11.86 knot hour, 15.99 knot mile, 44.16 km., 13.44 knot alpha.

Starboard Freeride 150 and a Evolution Freeride foil with a Tushingham Storm 6.5.

We woke to a nice sunny day here in Felixstowe, relaxing morning at home, me doing my exercises in the back garden while Mag sieved compost, she loves her compost especially as its full of worms. We had no plans to do anything but then the breeze picked up after lunch to 17 knots, I decided to head down to The Dip to check the conditions especially as I had missed a few afternoon sessions when a sea breeze kicked in! I arrived at the beach at 2 and things looked promising, there was some drama as a fishing boat had just pulled a yacht off the shingle bank with the inshore RLNI standing by, the foil board was soon on the beach and there looked enough for my 6.5 but by the time I had my wetsuit on the wind had eased back but I decided to try anyway. My first run out was slow going but I pumped up and was flying and after a couple of runs near The Dip to headed out a couple of miles to get a close look at the cats racing off Bawdsey where once again it was quite lumpy! I followed the cats around the course and with enough wind now to beat down the coast I started for The Manor and had some cracking runs especially when the sun came out. I made it to Al Wiz’s beach in 6 beats to see Al with his paddle boards. I then had the best run of the session a 3.50-mile broad reach back playing with the swell, just fantastic, gybing I had one more beat to The Fludyers managing a good run back before the breeze dropped. Time to call an end to an unexpected session with some rain out to sea and half a rainbow too:)
