Wednesday 18th  December  – Windsurf *** River Orwell at Levington Marina  – mainly cloudy.

Foil – 19.50  knot max, 18.10 knot ave, 7.82  knot hour, 15.85 knot mile, 24.39 km., 15.57 knot alpha. 

Starboard Freeride 150 and a Evolution Freeride foil with a Naish Nalu 4.75.

With the temperature set to reach 13 degrees today with a strong breeze from the WSW it was looking good for another foil at Levington, after a quick breakfast I headed off just before ten dropping Mag off enroute so she could have her daily walk. To be honest I arrived at the marina a little early as the tide was still pretty low and there was some light rain so I had an hour in the van expecting a few wingers to turn up but they didn’t and I had the whole river to myself:) Then with the tide in enough to launch easily with some glimpse of sunshine too I decided to set up my foil board and while rigging my 4.75 fellow weather watcher, MrBlueSky turned up with his camera and we had a nice chat, he got lucky today getting a pic on both the BBC and the ITV including one of me foiling:) I actually launched just before 12.30 into a strong WSW gusting to 30 knots, sadly this direction really chops up the river so I started off just doing runs across the river in front of the marina, I then started to get some strang creaking noises from my foil and decided to head in to check things out spoiling my hour time but I am so lucky that I did as I had for some reason lost a bolt connecting my foil mast to the board!!! I replaced this straight away and headed out again this time I was able to do some nice mile runs across the corner getting some nice gybes:) I was hard work and tiring in the strong gusty wind and lumpy river so decided to call it a day, the wind continues tomorrow but the temperature is set to drop to 6 degrees so will give that a miss, just as well really as we are having the lovely Maeva for the day:)
