Hi all,

I am going to Assen to watch the World Superbike race on April 25/26th. I've got Friday 24th April to Tuesday 5th of May as holiday.
If the forecast is windy, I will be bringing my van and windsurf kit. I guess Herkingen/Grevelingenmeer and Strand Horst, are the places on the way up from Calais.
Lauwersmeer looks close to Assen/Groningen. What are the best wind directions for these places, and are they affected by tides?
Any other information (like hazards) about these or other spots worth visiting appreciated. Do people sail at these places mid-week as I dont want to sail on my own :)

thanks,

Phil

Hi Phil,

You can try my homespot: Amstelmeer.
Ther are some campingsites nearby. sometimes i see some Campervans at 'lutje strand' for the night.
You will be not alone there, there a no hazards for so far i know. And most of the time it's more windy then the rest of the Netherlands.

Hi,
Herkingen/Grevelingen has oysters as Hazard... Always wear boots there and dont´t try to catch your fall with yer hands...
Best Winddirection for Herkingen is West/Southwest Or East. North doesn´t work(off-shore), then go to Grevelingendam. South (on-shore) just for beginners or move far out.

Thanks for the replies. I went on my bike in the end as there was not much wind forecast. Maybe next time.
Great racing at Assen as always!
